Work Package 3: Action Learning
Overall summary
In this work package we field tested the designed tasks and scenarios of WP 2 with groups of University language learners as well as adult learners from a number of European countries. At the beginning of each conducted language course, learners were assessed via the Technical Skills and Equipment Questionnaire (WP3-1). The results of each course were evaluated by means of short surveys of various types WP3-3 (see also WP7: Evaluation). The results from these evaluations were fed into the ongoing task and scenario design leading to a number of course iterations (see the WP3-3 report for more detail).
The Action Learning also provided input into the development for the teacher training course (WPs 5 and 6).

WP3-1 |
Technical skills and equipment questionnaire
|
A needs analysis is a necessary part of any course design to establish participants’ skill sets and available technology. This involves data collection from the participants prior to an event. This WP provides feedback to WP2 and for the deliverable WP3-2. A technical skills and equipment analysis questionnaire is the deliverable.

WP3-2 |
Invitation campaign through localised marketing material |
Marketing materials to recruit and support participants made up of localised web-pages, fliers and newsletters with multi-lingual information packs were created. The partners and associated partners used this material to invite language learners to become Action learners. The efforts to carry out the campaign included in this deliverable included the Grenzenlos test sites (and their associated partners) and TALKADEMY.

WP3-3 |
Action learning evaluation
|
The report provides an a description and an analysis of the Action Learning process through Action Research. It traces the processes of the project as well as offering an evaluation drawing on various sources.
|
WP3-4 |
Training for associated partners |
WP3-4 includes a “train the trainer” session for the associated partners who provide first level support using their facilities with some local native language support. These network building activities provide a basis for ongoing communications between trainers after the project’s lifespan. This deliverable will be to establish an interest group and to facilitate the initial communications.
