Main venue: Avalon learning Island

Duration: 10 lessons; each lesson was one hour and a half long (21.00-22.30); 12 July-12 August 2010

North Sami

 

North Sami 1 A

 

Venues:  SL (Wonderful Denmark; Humlab Islans 1 and 2; Animal Island; Muinjij Island) 10%; and Adobe Connect 10%; 80% Self-study in LMS Cambro.

Teacher: Hanna Outakoski (University of Umeå)

Avalon support and coordination: Mats Deutschmann, Luisa Panichi

Duration: 8 January - 6 June 2010;  Self-study in learning management system (Cambro) at 10 hours per week; 12 one hour Adobe Connect sessions from 20.00- 21.00; 5 one-hour sessions in Second Life from 21.00-22.00 CET and 5 hours in SL for group or pair work.

Call and recruitment: students were enrolled in a Sami language course at the University of Umeå (Associate partner of Avalon) for 7.5 credits. (Part to of the North Sami for Benniners. North Sami 1 b

Venues:  SL (Sprakens Hus  on Humlab 2; Wonderful Denmark, Animal Island,  Greenies Home, Pairwork Area British Council Island, Edulapland) and Adobe Connect

Avalon support and coordination: Mats Deutschmann, Luisa Panichi

Duration: 30 August 2010 -16 Jan 2011;  Self-study in learning management system (Cambro) at 10 hours per week; 12 one hour Adobe Connect sessions from 11.00-12.00 alternating with 10.30-11.30; 10 one-hour sessions in Second Life (12.00-13 alternating with 11.30.12.30) and 10 hours in SL for group or pair work. 3 physical face-to-face meetings/seminars with the teacher at a location called Gellivare 300 km from the University main campus (closer to the main student base: 9 students out of 19).

Venues:  SL (Student exploration of SL..... ....) and Adobe Connect

Teacher: Hanna Outakoski (University of Umeå)

Duration: 4.11.2010 - 16 Jan 2011;  Self-study in learning management system (Cambro) at 20 hours per week; 2 one hour Adobe Connect sessions for Sl support; Student group work in SL (time .....................).1 physical face-to-face meetings/seminar with the teacher at a location called Kiruna 500 km from the University main campus (this is location where all students are based).

Business English Course

 

Business English 1A

 

 

Main venue: Business Barn (Avalon Learning)

Teacher: Graham Stanley

Avalon support and coordination: Gerhilde Meissl-Egghart, Heike Philp

Duration: 9 lessons, one hour and a half each (21.00-22.30) once every 2 weeks from September 22nd to December 15th 2009. Additionally, participants were encouraged to meet in groups once every 2 weeks when there were no classes. For the last three lessons we decided to combine the two groups (Business English 1A & 1B) because of dropouts in Business English 1B.
