Welcome and greetings/Warm up (5 mins)

Location: General course assembly area

General greetings and chit chat. Introduction of the theme “party”.

Main learning event (65 mins):

The teacher communicates to the students that on the last session we are going to have a party. Since it will be a big party, it’s better for us to start thinking about it in time.

The teacher will introduce some useful vocabulary: ballare, conoscere persone, and recall useful expressions (mi piace, non mi piace, etc).

Sitting in circle, students divided in small groups, say what they like and don’t like of parties. (10 min)

(The group teleport to the skybox)

Location: skybox. Props: On the one side there will be objects and balloons of different colours (to learn the name of the colours) (, pieces of furniture scattered around for instance, three different kind of sofas, two different kind of dance floor, etc) and with enough space to let people move among them. Each object will have an hovering text on it with its name (il divano, la pista da ballo, etc.) On the other side there will be an empty platform. We can put here boards or objects explaining the concepts of  “davanti” “dietro” “dentro” “sopra”. We can use a texture with a numbered grid to make it easier for the student to explain where they want to put each object.

Student move around and read the name of the objects they see. Afterwards the teacher will shout the names and all have to run to the object/colour “named”.  (15 minutes all)

task: Decide which objects to use. In pair or little groups.  Students will work in groups, muting the people of the other groups. They will move among the objects and discuss them. They have to decide which “model” do they want.

Expressions that can be used:Mi piace il tavolo nero. Preferisco il tavolo nero. Non mi piace.....; Preferisco il tavolo vicino al divano.; È bello; È brutto; È strano; Il tavolo nero è brutto; Il tavolo nero è bello   (10 min)

Report back : ideas and decision taking; teacher ask each group what did they decide/which item do they want to use (10 min).

At this point, the teacher will “move” the selected object to the empty part of the platform.

Students now will have to decide in which position they want to place each object. Teacher will introduce the new vocabulary (davanti, dietro, ecc) and check if everybody understand it (5 minutes)   . Students work again in group and decide where to put each thing. Report back and decision making (15 min)

Language input: expressing preferences and tastes: voglio/mi piace, non mi piace/mettere, perferisco. Describing objects and positions.

General lesson and course feedback and group reflection (10 mins)

Reiteration of the main language items covered during the lesson in the text chat and by eliciting and prompting students. Revision of key language and answers to specific questions from students..

Arrangements for next meeting/final evaluation tasks (homework) (10 mins)

In the party there will be a photo exhibition. students in pair will have to take a photo of something they find nice/ugly/strange. In each photo there has to be as well a person (for instance, a classmate)
